Papua - The Fellowship of Churches in Indonesia (PGI) expressed its deep condolonces for the victims of the attack by the Armed Criminal Group in Nogolait Village, Kenyam District, Papua

"PGI expresses its deep condolences for the 12 victims, including Pastor Eliaser Baner, Pastor of the Indonesian Gospel Camp Church," said PGI Executive Secretary for Justice and Peace, Henrek Lokra in one of his statement in Jakarta, Monday, July 18, 2022. .

Henrek said the 10 victims died as a result of shootings by the Armed Criminal Groups in Nogolait Village, Keneyam District, Nduga Regency, Papua, Saturday, July 16, 2022.

He asked the Government to form an independent investigation team to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the killings of civilians in Nogolait Village, Kenyam District, Nduga Regency, Papua.

"We encourage churches in Papua to continue to carry out humanitarian efforts, for the people in Nogolait Village, Kenyam District, Nduga Regency, and its surrounding areas," he explained.

Moreover, he also hopes that the TNI/Polri will continue to make efforts in preventing another potential of similar incidents from happening again, and create a peaceful society with a cultural approach.

He hopes that these efforts can make people more aware with the condition of Papua and ultimately able to improve the condition in Papua.
